New York charity fest gets a couple of big surprises

Global Citizen Festival, the Global Poverty Project's annual music fest, went down in New York City's Central Park on Saturday. After a star-studded bill including Alicia Keys, the Roots, Tiësto, and fun., the evening was headlined by No Doubt and Jay Z, each of whom brought out a surprise guest. Hova, still apparently in the headspace of the "On the Run" tour, enlisted Beyoncé for a couple of swooning renditions of "Holy Grail" and "Young Forever." The Gwen Stefani-led crew, however, brought out a guest that was a hair more surprising. For their encore performance of the Police's "Message in a Bottle," none other than Sting himself took to the stage to sing his famous bars (and reprise his guest slot at the band's 2003 Super Bowl performance). All in all it looks like it was a pretty special evening for those that landed tickets. Watch "Message in a Bottle" above, and the two Jay Z performances below via Stereogum.
